This special license category is required if you wish to tow a trailer behind a class B vehicle with a permissible gross mass of more than 750 kg, and the combined gross mass of the trailer and car exceeds 3,500 kg but is no more than 4,250 kg (valid from 19.01.2013).

To add code 96 to your class B (or B17) driving license, only theoretical and practical training is required. No examinations are scheduled. It is therefore advisable to complete this training at the same time as obtaining class B or B17. Otherwise, 2.5 hours of theory and 3.5 hours of practical training are required. The driving school issues a certificate of completion, which entitles you to have code 96 entered in your driving license.

The cost of obtaining this certificate is a flat rate of €520. Additional practical driving lessons with a trailer are of course available at €72 per hour (45 min.).
